On October 1st, a meeting on cross-border collaboration in healthcare took place in Brussels at the European Patient Forum. Representatives from various European countries, active in politics (including European commissioners), healthcare, and mental health care, discussed ways to improve care for children and families in border regions.

During various presentations, insights were shared on the possibilities and challenges of cross-border collaboration. Special attention was paid to the problem that Dutch children in the Dutch-German border region often fall through the cracks due to unclear regulations regarding responsibility and reimbursement for mental healthcare, among other things.

Experts Petra Wilson and Anett Molnar from Health Connect Partners (HCP) are investigating this issue together with Karakter and have brought together key stakeholders to develop workable solutions. Their expert report will be published soon, which will allow us to continue the discussion with stakeholders.

Our shared goal remains: access to mental health care for every child and every family, including those in border regions.

This project was made possible by AEBR, b-solutions, and others.
