We are happy to announce that our ED-CARE (Eating Disorder - Care) project has been granted funding from the Euregio Rijn-Waal, marking a significant leap forward in our mission to improve the care and understanding of eating disorders through cross-border collaboration.
This initiative, led by the European Network for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ENCAP), addresses the challenges faced by treatment teams from LVR, Pactum and Karakter in Germany and the Netherlands within the Euregio Rijn-Waal area.
Growing prevalence
Eating disorders, including Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa, and Binge-Eating Disorder, present complex psychiatric challenges with potentially life-threatening consequences. Research and observations indicate a growing prevalence post-COVID-19, emphasizing the urgent need for a collaborative approach to address these issues.
Challenges encountered by treatment teams
The ED-CARE project aims to compare challenges encountered by treatment teams in the Netherlands and Germany. We aspire to share knowledge and expertise across borders, learning from diverse approaches and identifying effective solutions. The project incorporates activities such as focus group discussions, case reviews, and work visits. Subsequently, a paper summarizing the findings will be published. This initiative focuses on strengthening the resilience of healthcare providers and their teams, crucial for advancing the healthcare landscape.
The project is made possible by the Interreg Program Deutschland-Nederland with its program partners and co-financed by the European Union (EU).
